I started writing a review for SEVENTEEN's new album the second it dropped, then I decided to take some time, and re-listen to all the songs to really know how I feel about each track and the record as a whole.
It's been two days since the release, I've played all tracks multiple times, and now is the time to answer : How good is "An Ode"??
Hit: I have already reviewed this song, and though I see why so many people love it,unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it, You can check the full review here to have an idea on why I wasn't a huge fan.

Lie Again: From the second I heard that tropical sound, I knew I was gonna love this song. Woozi's opening and Joshua's vocals were so sweet, and I really enjoyed Mingyu's part. The chorus is so beautiful and catchy, and Vernon's part just made this song extra special. In case you didn't notice, he took lyrics from "Don't Wanna Cry" and changed them a little, and I thought that was a beautiful touch and a very clever move.

Fear: Some people have been criticizing SEVENTEEN for doing a "Dark Concept" rather than their usual cute ones, and this was quite surprising to me because I thought that Fear was a very good title track.
I loved the beat we get right after Wonwoo's opening, then the transition to Joshua's part where his vocals are the main focus was great, and it happens again with Jeonghan's part right after the chorus.
I loved that " Someone tell what I should do" part, both Seungkwan and DK were great.
I loved every time Woozi comes on,I thought the rap parts were good, and though the chorus isn't my favourite, it's still pretty damn good.

The video is also so good, it's so aesthetically pleasing, the visuals are amazing, and it's definitely one of my favourite SEVENTEEN videos.
Let me hear you say: I honestly did not expect myself to love this song as much as I did. When I heard the snippet, I thought it was just ok, but I really enjoyed it. I liked Mingyu's part, again ,Woozi was great vocally, I also really loved The8 and Dino's parts. The chorus put a huge smile on my face. The lyrics are cheesy but Wonwoo's delivery with that music was just so good. S.Coups rap was also really good. The vocalists ,as per usual, killed their parts.
I really had so much fun listening to the song, and it was such a pleasant surprise.

247: With this track, we don't get all 13 members, we just have the performance team. I was expecting more of an upbeat, energetic song from this unit, similar to what they gave us on YMMD earlier this year, but they decided to go on different direction ,and they absolutely nailed it.
This is an R&B track with a really beautiful beat. The lyrics are so sweet, and all four members get to show the great vocals they possess. I was genuinely impressed by everyone of them. I really fell in love with The8's voice, it's so beautiful.
I really appreciate the difference between this track and the one they gave us on YMMD. I love that they're not sticking to one thing, and they're showing us they're capable of undertaking different sounds and genres.

Second Life: "Hug" was one of my top3 songs from "YMMD" ,and again, the vocal team didn't disappoint. This is a bright, cute, feel good love song. And as much as I love a sad, heart wrenching ballad, I loved the choice of a more fun song rather than a heartbreaking one for the vocalists.
Woozi's part at 2:13 literally gave me goosebumps, his voice is insane. Not only is it so strong, but it holds so much emotions, it's crazy! His voice is just so addictive.
Network Love: This song belongs to a different unit, not the rap one, but we have Jun, The8, Vernon and Joshua: The" International Unit " I guess.
This is a cool track, with a wordless edm chorus. I think they all did a good job, its fun and enjoyable to listen to.Vernon did well, and Jun was pretty good too. I preferred The8 on 247 and Joshua on Second Life ,but they still did well here.

Back it Up: I didn't love this one, and that was a shame because I really enjoyed the rappers on most of the songs on this album, I think they were even great on some tracks, so its sad that when they all came together, it wasn't as good.
The beat is quite good actually, but I really couldn't stand that weird sound in background; it resembles a noise you'd hear in some 90s video game, it took me out of it. That "Siren" and "Back" over-autotuned parts were not good.
I liked S.Coups part, and without that annoying background sound, I think this would've been a whole lot better. I'm really sad I didn't enjoy this one.

Lucky: We go back to having all our 13 members on this track. I love that this song is kinda of fast paced. The lyrics are cute, I'm not crazy about the chorus, but I think the beat makes it really fun.
It's an enjoyable cute song, it's not as strong nor as memorable as some other tracks on this album, but it still has its positives and I liked it.

Snap Shoot: This song screams happiness! From the intro, it spreads nothing but positivity. The lyrics are so sweet, I really liked Vernon's part, and I love the chorus. It gave me major "Oh My" flashbacks, it's filled with good, positive energy, and it's an answer to everyone saying SEVENTEEN went "too dark",and that they've abandoned their brand which is totally ridiculous. I feel like they're growing and experimenting which is completely fine, however, they are still giving us songs similar to the original ones many love and appreciate.
Whenever you feel sad, play this one, and you'll be good to go.

Happy Ending: This is the Korean version of a song they released in Japanese earlier this year. I really enjoyed the original, and I liked this version a lot as well. Lyrically, its such a beautiful song, and I really enjoyed its rhythm and beat. I'm really in love with the part Jeonghan and Seungkwan sing, and later Joshua and Woozi repeat, it's so beautiful.
It's a really strong, beautiful song, I really love it and it was a true happy ending to end the album with such a great song.

An Ode Card:
*Score: 8.9/10
*Label: Great
*Best Song: Lie Again + 247
*Star of the Album: Woozi {I just think he's brilliant, there are multiple moments where he shines in this album, plus he co-wrote and co-composed every single track but Back it Up, he's just insanely talented}
*Final Thoughts: I really believe this is one of the best Kpop albums released this year. I loved almost every track, it's such a strong record with different sounds and vibes, yet they all blend together so well forming a strong album. It's well produced, well written and the performances are top notch.
I chose Woozi as the star of the album, but all members shined. It's a great album!
